Getting Started
What is Gamelabs Studio?
Gamelabs Studio is an AI-powered platform for generating game assets. You can create artwork, animations, and spritesheets from text prompts or reference images. It's designed specifically for game developers who need production-ready 2D assets quickly.
How do I get started?
Sign up for a free account to receive 20 credits. No credit card required. Once registered, you can immediately start generating assets in the Studio, use the API, or connect via MCP to your AI coding assistant. Just describe what you want, and the AI will generate it.
What types of assets can I generate?
You can generate three types of assets: Artwork (static images like characters, items, environments, icons), Animations (animated versions of artwork as video), and Spritesheets (multi-frame images for game engines with customizable rows and columns).
Do I need design or art skills to use Gamelabs?
No design skills required. Just describe what you want in plain English. The AI understands context like "pixel art RPG sword" or "steampunk airship side view". You can also upload reference images to guide the style and composition.
Credits & Pricing
Do credits expire?
No, your credits never expire. Whether you purchase a credit bundle or receive credits from a monthly plan, they stay in your account until you use them. Take your time and create at your own pace.
What can I create with one credit?
One credit generates one artwork or one spritesheet. Animations require 5 credits because they involve generating multiple frames and processing them into smooth motion. This gives you flexibility to balance your usage across different asset types.
What's the difference between bundles and monthly plans?
Credit bundles are one-time purchases—pay once and use the credits whenever you want. Monthly plans give you a recurring credit allowance each month plus email support. Choose bundles for occasional use or monthly plans for consistent, ongoing work.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes, you can change your monthly plan at any time. When upgrading, you'll get immediate access to your new credit allowance. When downgrading, the change takes effect at your next billing cycle. Your unused credits always carry over.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards through our secure payment processor (Stripe). This includes Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. All transactions are encrypted and secure.
Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
Yes, you can cancel your monthly subscription at any time with no cancellation fees or penalties. When you cancel, you'll continue to have access for the remainder of your current billing period. Any unused credits in your account stay yours and never expire, so you can still use them after cancelling.
Asset Generation
What image resolutions are available?
You can generate images at multiple resolutions: 512×512, 768×768, 1024×1024, and various aspect ratios for different use cases. Higher resolutions use the same credit cost. The resolution selector is available in the Studio.
Can I use reference images?
Yes! You can upload a reference image to guide the AI. This is useful for maintaining style consistency across assets, creating variations of existing art, or generating assets that match your game's aesthetic.
How do spritesheets work?
Spritesheets are generated as a single image containing multiple frames arranged in a grid. You can specify the number of rows and columns. Each spritesheet costs 1 credit regardless of the number of frames. Perfect for walk cycles, attacks, or idle animations.
What animation formats are supported?
Animations can be exported as MP4 video . The animation duration and frame rate are optimized for smooth playback. Each animation costs 5 credits and produces fluid, game-ready motion.
Can I regenerate or iterate on results?
Yes, if you're not satisfied with a generation, you can regenerate with the same prompt or modify your prompt to get different results. Each generation uses credits, so we recommend refining your prompts based on initial results.
API & MCP Integration
What is the API and how do I use it?
The REST API lets you integrate Gamelabs into your own tools, pipelines, or applications. You can generate assets programmatically, which is perfect for automated workflows or building custom tools. API documentation is available at /docs/api.
What is MCP integration?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) allows AI coding assistants like Cursor and Claude to generate game assets directly within your development environment. Simply configure the MCP server URL and your API key, and your AI assistant can create assets on command.
How do I get an API key?
After signing up, go to your account settings and navigate to the API Keys section. You can generate multiple API keys for different projects or environments. Keep your keys secure and never share them publicly.
Are there rate limits on the API?
Yes, to ensure fair usage and system stability, there are rate limits on API calls. Free tier users have more restrictive limits, while paid plans have higher allowances. Check the API documentation for specific limits.
Legal & Usage Rights
Can I use generated assets commercially?
Yes! All assets you generate with Gamelabs are yours to use commercially. You have full rights to use them in your games, apps, or any other projects, including those you sell. No attribution required.
Who owns the generated assets?
You own the assets you generate. Once created, the artwork, animations, and spritesheets belong to you. You can use, modify, sell, or distribute them as you see fit without any restrictions from Gamelabs.
Can I use Gamelabs assets in open-source projects?
Absolutely. You can use generated assets in open-source projects, game jams, commercial games, personal projects, or any other context. There are no restrictions on the type of project.
