Create Your First Game Asset

A complete beginner walkthrough from project creation to a downloadable result.

1. Create an Asset Project

Open Studio, choose New Project, then New Asset Project. Use one project per game or cohesive asset pack. Open it and create an asset named for the subject rather than the output, for example Slime Enemy rather than Slime Walk Sheet.

2. Choose Wizard or Freeform

Choose Wizard for a guided first run. Select Game Sprite Sheet if you ultimately need animated frames, Animation if you need video only, or Image for a still asset. Freeform is covered separately and is ideal after the first successful pipeline.

3. Make the base image

Describe one still subject. Include art style, materials, colors, silhouette, lighting, and composition. Set camera view and subject direction in the orientation controls, not in the prompt. Use Character or VFX presets when you need a removable chroma background.

4. Review before animating

Open the Image Editor if the silhouette, framing, edge cleanup, or canvas size needs work. Animation preserves problems as well as strengths, so correct the still first.

5. Animate and export

Describe one action, choose duration and loop settings, then generate. Use the Video Editor to trim or choose a clean loop. Generate a sprite sheet, set frame dimensions and FPS, inspect the result in the Image Editor, and download it.

Common first-run mistakes

  • Asking the image prompt to create an animation or sprite sheet.
  • Describing transparency instead of enabling the background option.
  • Animating an image with a cropped limb or unclear silhouette.
  • Changing projection or orientation halfway through a set.
  • Importing the sheet into an engine without matching frame dimensions and FPS.
