Create and Manage a Map Project
Choose a map type, create maps, build an asset library, and understand project-level settings.
Create the project
From Studio choose New Project, then New Map Project. Name the project and choose Side-Scroll, Top-Down, or Isometric. The map type is a project-level decision because it controls editor geometry and valid asset workflows.
Project workspace
A Map Project contains two collections: Maps and map assets. Create several levels from one coherent asset library. The header shows map type, map count, and asset count.
Create a map
Choose New Map and enter a name. Top-down and isometric maps also choose tile-transition complexity. The new map opens in the Map Editor.
Create assets before painting
Use New Asset in the project workspace. Generate or import the visual, return to the project, assign its role, and configure prop footprint if needed. For top-down and isometric projects, build or rebuild the tileset after changing terrain or linear assets.
Keep projection consistent
Do not mix top-down, isometric, and side-view art in one project. Keep tile dimensions, lighting direction, palette, and detail scale consistent across the project.
