Map Editor Tools, Layers, and Settings
Use brush, fill, erase, grid, layers, prop footprints, segment controls, and map settings.
Tile palette and layers
The left palette filters assets by active layer. Terrain is the base. Overlay holds secondary tile content. Props places footprint-aware objects. Side-scroll mode adapts these concepts to segment backgrounds, tile grids, and props.
Tools
- Brush paints the selected tile or places a prop.
- Fill replaces a connected area and is unavailable for prop placement.
- Erase removes content from the active layer.
- Grid toggle shows or hides cell boundaries.
Prop footprints
A footprint is measured in map cells. Configure it in the Map Project before placing the prop. The editor prevents or manages placement using that occupied area.
Map settings
Top-down and isometric maps configure transition complexity, grid size, and tile size. Side-scroll maps configure tile size for segment grids and exports. Grid dimensions are limited to keep the editor practical.
Segment controls
Side-scroll mode supports adding at a position, reordering, replacing, removing, opening an asset, and joining backgrounds. Save after structural changes.
