Folders and Assets

Build a useful hierarchy and keep related outputs on one asset.

Folder strategy

Use folders for broad game-facing groups such as Characters, Enemies, Props, Environments, VFX, UI, and References. Avoid creating a folder for every output type because an asset already groups its image, animation, and sprite sheet.

Name assets by subject

An asset should represent one reusable subject or tightly related visual concept. Good names include Knight, Pine Tree, Fireball, Cobblestone Road, and Forest Parallax. Output labels such as Idle, Attack, Front View, and Walk belong to animations or generated views inside the asset.

Move and rename

Renaming does not break job associations. Moving an asset between folders or compatible projects changes organization while preserving its output history. Review project palette inheritance after moving an asset.

One asset, many views

Use generated views to keep multiple camera and subject orientations together. Reuse the first successful view as a reference for later directions so the design stays coherent.
