Tileset Building and Transitions
Turn terrain and linear source assets into paintable edge, corner, and blob variants.
Why build a tileset
A single terrain image cannot represent every border between materials. The tileset builder creates transition variants and an atlas from assets assigned Terrain or Linear roles.
Complexity levels
- Simple creates edge-focused transitions with the smallest variant set.
- Standard includes edges and corners and is a good default.
- Full builds a 47-tile blob set for detailed adjacency at greater generation and atlas complexity.
Build and rebuild
Build Tileset becomes available when suitable assets are assigned. The project reports Built, Outdated, or Not Built. Adding, replacing, or reassigning a source can make the current tileset stale; rebuild before painting final maps.
Review variants
Inspect the map after painting boundaries. Source images with inconsistent scale, lighting, or edge texture create visible seams even when variant geometry is correct.
